Hello LesConnor,

Did the utility generate a log file at all?  You should have a cleanup_history.txt file in the same directory from which the utility was run.  If you have one, can you copy/paste the contents from the last run?

Hi Joseti,

New information – when this happens, the logfile is 0 bytes. But on subsequent runs, the cleanup tool works. I often have it fail on first run, then succeed on subsequent runs.

It’s a pretty good tool, I’ll update on codeplex.

Ok, very unusual.  Does it write any events to the application event log?  Initially I suspected the SQL query was timing out but now I’m not sure.  If it happens again can you send me the \program files\update services\logfiles\softwaredistribution.log from the WSUS server?

The event log error I posted is what is written when it fails.
